18/07/2014 - Another Track Record For Astounding

Astounding put another Corbiewood Free For All on his C.V with a super show record breaking performance. This time it was over 1 mile and 3 furlongs at the bannockburn racetrack. The previous record holder over the course and distance was Premier Dream, Astounding took the record down by just over one second but in effortless style. surely more to come from scotlands top horse yet possibly the 1.25 miles record held by the Gilvears past superstar Dillys Decision.

congratulations to all the connections.

20/06/2014 - Astounding speeds to New Track Record

Another highly anticipated Free For All was the penultimate race at corbiewood on thursday night and it was one to be remembered. With no Stoneriggs Mystery in the line up it was always going to be Astoundings race but the question was how fast? from post position 3 on the gate, once again the 7 year old Artiscape gelding charged out for the lead, Camden Daniel tried gallantly to hold him off but there was no stopping Astounding as he cleared heading into the first turn. Gordon Gilvear kept on the gas putting in some fast fractions. The rest of the field were battling for the minor places in behind as Astounding past the line breaking Doonbegs track record by one tenth of a second taking the official track record down to 1:59.6 . Huge congratulations to all the connections. full results in results section.

20/06/2014 - Robhall S.H.R.C 3 year old Champion

Robhall came out on top in the SHRC 3 year old derby. Burning dust put on a brave challenge but down the back stretch inside the final quarter mile Robhall's toughness and stamina took him into the lead going into the stable bend and opening up a couple of lengths on way to the line much to the delight of the punters. Congratulations to all the connections.

06/06/2014 - Astounding Takes The Glory In Free For All

It was an awesome display of talent from the Gilvears stable Astounding in The Free For All at Corbiewood on thursday night. After drawing the worst position in the ballot for post positions, Gordon Gilvear made the decision for full throttle off the gate and it payed off as he cleared Major league star into the first turn. Odds on favourite Stoneriggs Mystery was held to the rail from the second line inside draw, but Mick lord was soon out and tracking the leader just after the first quarter. As they came down the backstretch for the final time it soon looked like there was no catching Astounding as he opened up a two length lead into the final turn then coming down the home stretch to win quite comfortably from Mystery in a very fast time of 2:00.8.

06/06/2014 - Live in Beauty wins STAGBI Future Broodmares race

For the third year in a row the STAGBI Future Broodmares race was a fantastic race right down to the wire. In-form Racezapan went of favourite with the bookies and almost made it to the line in front but in the home stretch Grant Cullen took to the wide outside of the track with Live In Beauty and made a very strong finish closing the gap with every stride to get up just before the line to take the victory for owner Bobby Miller.

Full results from the meeting are available in the Results section.

02/06/2014 - A Fair Day For The Scots At Appleby

It was another display of scottish form at Appleby New Fair races on sunday. RobHall stole the show to be crowned 3 year old champion after a fine display of his talent winning his heat and coming back from a length down in the final to take the trohpy along with the £1000 prize north of the border. The Muirhead stable showed more quality when the in-form Racezapan took to the winners enclosure once again. Caraghs Comet also added to her win tally for Tommy Mackenzie putting on another classy performance winning quite easily in the end. Gordon Gilvear got one better from the Dreamfair Vogel 4 year old, Mr Brightside this time putting in a great effort to get up to win at the wire. Gordon just missed out on a second winner with Dreamfair Samarai a few races later getting pipped at the post by Rocker laidlers Billys Borders. Unfortunately the scottish horses just couldnt do enough in the final, Racezapan being the closest finisher to eventual winner Bumble B.

A big well done to all the connections of all or Scottish winners and Runners up.

27/05/2014 - Scots Stars Shine in Appleby

The Scottish runners at Appleby were definitely on form on sunday with a few battling through some extreme track conditions to come out winners along with a few great performances from others. 17/05/2014 - No Regrets About The New Season -

The 2014 Scottish Harness Racing season got off to a great start on Thursday night at Haughfield. The first race was won by Racezapan who is owned by Mr Hamish Muirhead, who also owns the farm where the meeting was held, so it was nice to see some reward for the hard work put in by him and his team to get the season off and running. Unfortunately for Mr Muirhead Racezapan came out second best in a spectacular finish in the final, going down by a nose to Rocker Laidler on Board No Regrets. Over all a great night to start the season.
